I was given a bottle neck gourd years ago. I kept looking at it and wondering what else could I do with it beyond making the standard old "birdhouse." I began to imagine the basics of teapot. I cut it apart and reassembled it into this teapot, I primed it a soft teal then set it aside not knowing what else it wanted. Sitting on the sidelines it got broken once and the dog chewed the lid once. I lovingly restored it each time, but set it aside.
After working on the Mexican Folk Art pieces, the teapot began calling me to complete it. But its voice was not Spanish it was Irish. Fortunately I listened. Sometimes a piece moves in its own time and speaks its own language.
